Nursing Scholarships of Interest to SRNAs
Vanderbilt School of Nursing Supported PhD Scholarships: VUSN’s dean is committed to offering scholarship opportunities for top students. They evaluate all admitted students for merit-based scholarships and financial aid. Last year, the School of Nursing awarded VUSN Service-free tuition scholarships to 6-8 full-time students. In addition, each full-time student received a $5000 stipend for up to three years.
Edwards Lifesciences Education Grant Portal: Edwards Lifesciences is committed to supporting programs that further clinical knowledge, scientific exchange, medical education, and delivery of effective therapies for structural heart disease and critical care monitoring. Edwards Edwards Lifesciences may consider providing grant funding support to educational topics that are of interest to CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists. These include but are not limited to enhancing the understanding of the clinical and economic implications of newly-released data; educating the healthcare professional on strategies for, and potential clinical and economic benefits of, hemodynamic optimization of surgical and post-surgical patients, including Enhanced Surgical Recovery (ESR) and Perioperative Goal-Directed Therapy (PGDT). Abbott: Abbot Nutrition offers medical education grants in interest areas related to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) including surgical and critical care nutrition.
Medtronic Giving Connection is a new grant system implemented by Medtronic. Medtronic recognizes it cannot fulfill its Mission alone. In order to “alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life,” it must support the many stakeholders in healthcare, including providers, medical societies, and patient groups. Part of its role is to provide financial assistance for independent medical conferences, charitable events, medical education, and public education programs. Jonas Scholars Program: The Jonas Center is committed to supporting improved healthcare for this population. Launched in 2011, the Jonas Center supports the doctoral-level training (PhD and DNP) of nurses who are focused on veteran-specific healthcare needs, ranging from clinical to policy to administration to education, to help ensure our veterans are receiving the best possible care. Interprofessional Fellowship in Patient Safety: The Department of Veteran Affairs is offering an Interprofessional Fellowship in Patient Safety. The purpose of the Interprofessional Fellowship in Patient Safety is to develop leaders with the vision, knowledge, and skills to lead patient safety and clinical simulation initiatives in individual healthcare facilities and who will assume regional and national roles in patient safety and clinical simulation training. Applications are accepted year-round.
Anesthesia Merck Investigator Studies Program: The Anesthesia Merck Investigator Studies Program (MISP) Committee will be accepting proposals. Funding is available to support proposed studies for their duration as it pertains to adequate neuromuscular blockade and neuromuscular recovery. Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals supports research and education in various therapeutic areas. Research, Writing, and Educational Grants may support research as well as educational programming to accelerate diagnosis and treatment in a variety of therapeutic areas
Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Funding Cycle: The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is authorized by Congress to fund and disseminate research that will provide information about the best available evidence to help patients and their healthcare providers make more informed decisions. PCORI’s research is intended to give patients a better understanding of the prevention, treatment, and care options available, and the science that supports those options. The PCORI funding center contains all of the resources applicants need to respond to current PCORI Funding Announcements (PFAs) based on PCORI’s National Priorities for Research and Research Agenda. NIH Pain Consortium: The NIH Pain Consortium was established to enhance pain research and promote collaboration among researchers. The consortium supports initiatives, develops research resources and tools, hosts events, and highlights funding opportunities. NCHS/Academy Health Policy Fellowship Program: The National Center for Health Statistics and Academy Health offers a year-long fellowship program for health services and policy researchers seeking access to restricted NCHS data. The NCHS/AcademyHealth Health Policy Fellowship Program is aimed at health services researchers across multiple disciplines who have a record of independent research.
