4.5 Class A CE
This program provides an in-depth exploration of research methodologies and their applications in anesthesia. The session begins with an overview of research, highlighting the role of research in advancing anesthesia practice. It distinguishes between evidence-based, quality improvement, and research projects. The grant writing segments focus on developing clear research questions, formulating specific aims, and crafting compelling introductions to secure funding. It also covers study design, measurement of outcomes, analysis plans, and budgeting — essential components for successful grant proposals in anesthesia research. The program includes a discussion on various funding mechanisms, grant writing resources, and pathways to developing a research career, such as the Postdoctoral Fellows Program. Attendees will participate in the research lab tour which provides a practical glimpse into ongoing research activities, encouraging participants engage in a discussion regarding the concepts learned and to develop their own anesthesia research agenda.
