Survey Services and Assistance

AANA will deliver and manage email surveys for individuals interested in collecting data from AANA members. Choose from two convenient service options.

The Full-Service Survey Option

This option includes:

• Survey instrument input from AANA researchers
• Two e-mail messages (one survey invitation, one reminder)
• Survey results data (with no identifiers)

 The Deployment-only Survey Option

This service is for researchers whose instruments are already prepared in a survey tool system such as SurveyMonkey.

It also includes:

• Two e-mail messages to AANA members (one survey invitation, one reminder)

Required Documents to Submit an Application

• An endorsement letter or email from the research advisor/director of your institute is required to indicate that the instrument and study have been reviewed and approved
• Copy of official notice of your approved IRB
• Documentation of research methodology, including purpose, hypothesis, methods, anticipated analysis plan, and plan for dissemination of the results
• Copy of the survey instrument
• Copy of the survey cover letter with a subject line
• Electronic survey application and payment

Interested in mailing a research survey or other communication to AANA members? List rental is available for AANA-approved mailings.

To qualify for mailing list rental, the following documents must be submitted with your order for approval:

• An endorsement letter/email from the research advisor/director of your institute is required to indicate that the instrument and study have been reviewed and approved.
• Copy of official notice of your approved IRB.
• Copy of the survey instrument.
• Copy of the cover letter that will be sent to the recipients.
• Documentation of Research Methodology to include: purpose, hypothesis, analysis methods, and plan for dissemination of the results.
• If you are an AANA member, provide your membership number on the application.
• Completed Research Mail Label Order Form with payment.

The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) will consider requests to conduct email notifications for approved research activities that are not for commercial purposes at AANA meetings and via telecommunications software. Soliciting individuals to participate in research activities at AANA meetings or via telecommunications software requires prior approval from the AANA. The AANA must approve the message and will send the message to seek volunteers on behalf of the researcher. AANA reserves the right to refuse fulfillment of any request.

At no time will the researcher have access to AANA members’ email addresses. AANA will send the appropriate group a message for you, with your name attached to the request. The approved email message for research participants does NOT imply any AANA endorsement or recommendation for your research.

To qualify for Email Solicitation for Research Participants, the following documents must be submitted.

Requirements

First: You must request approval from the AANA Senior Director of Research and Quality by submitting the following information:

• An endorsement letter or email from the research advisor/dean/manager of your institute is required to indicate that an instrument and study have been reviewed and approved.
• Copy of official notice of your approved IRB.
• Abstract of 200 words or less containing: purpose, hypothesis, methods, anticipated analysis plan, and plan for dissemination of the results.
• Copy of the survey or questionnaire.

Second (for research conducted at AANA meetings only): You must receive approval from the AANA Director of Meetings:

• The AANA Senior Director of Research and Quality will forward the approved research to the Director of Meetings on your behalf.
• Upon approval and availability of space, the AANA Meetings Department will work with you to secure a location to conduct your study at the meeting.
• All costs for this space will be your responsibility.
