AANA Journal Reviewer Instructions
Evaluating manuscript submissions – AANA Journal Tools
AANA Journal has just implemented a template for reviewers in Editorial Manager. The goal of the templates is twofold.
- Provide the reviewers with guidelines, ask specific questions, and allow a more uniform structure on how to critically evaluate peer manuscripts
- To improve the overall quality of the reviews and help you communicate your constructive suggestions effectively.
The reviewer templates are designed to mirror the various types of manuscripts most often submitted to the AANA Journal, and are based on the EQUATOR network (Enhancing the Quality and Transparency Of Health Research) reporting guidelines.
The templates contain questions, which vary depending on the goal and structure of the respective manuscript type. Note: all questions must be answered, and include page and line numbers.
In the reviewer templates there are two types of comments that you will be asked to write:
- Blind comments to author: address the different parts of the manuscript, in order to help authors, revise their manuscripts – if needed – to make them more suitable for publication. It is important that you are clear and concise in your comments.
- Confidential comments to the editor: your feedback will indicate the manuscript’s suitability for publication in AANA Journal and will be visible only to editors.
For questions email us journal@aana.com.
Thank you for your time and dedication in conducting peer reviews for the AANA Journal. Your efforts will be acknowledged in our last Journal issue annually in August.
