In Memoriam: William E. Thompson III, MSN, CRNA

William E. Thompson III, MSN, CRNA, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, died March 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Bill grew up in Petersburg, attending Scranton public schools and was a graduate of the last class at Central High School.

He received his BSN from Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, in 1995 and further graduated from the Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia. He earned a MSN from Temple University in 2002. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for 20 years, he was employed by several institutions in the Delaware Valley. He was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. Bill’s ancestors were instrumental in the founding of Hyde Park and Newton-Ransom. He was an Eagle Scout and world traveler.

He was preceded in death by his father, William E. Thompson Jr., in 2021.

Surviving are his partner, Kenneth J. Arlitz, at home with their loving canine, Vivian Penelope Willemina, and in spirit, Boots (Twyla Susan); and in Scranton, his mother, Jean Fellows Thompson.

Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 207 W. Main St., Moorestown, NJ 08057. Interment will be at Washington National Cathedral at a later date.
