In Memoriam: Terry Colvin “Bubba” Sears, CRNA (1956-2024)

October 16, 2024

Terry Colvin “Bubba” Sears, CRNA, a cherished luminary in the lives of many, left this world on October 5, 2024, peacefully at his home in Fairhope, Alabama. He leaves behind a magnificent legacy, woven through the hearts of those who knew him best.

Terry was a devoted husband of over 44 years to his beloved wife, Georgia. Together, they crafted a life rich with love, laughter, and shared adventures that played out like cherished chapters in a book—each moment a testament to their deep connection. To Terry, family was everything, and his girls were the stars in his sky, each one lighting up his world in their unique way. He beamed with pride for his three daughters, two son-in-laws, and six grandchildren. But one young man held a special place in his heart—his oldest grandson, Colvin. To Terry, Colvin was more than a grandson but also a godson, son, and most importantly, friend.

Terry always had a story to tell about his family. His endless love for them was expressed across his face as he talked about being Corinne’s confirmation sponsor or her college plans, fishing with Kyle, Harper and Ward’s swimming skills, his long talks with Jessie, how his heart melts when Mia sings “Jesus Loves Me” on their walks to the Grand Hotel, Hayes’ amazing chuckles, or sunset cruises with Simon.

But Terry’s family far exceeds just those related to him. The connections he formed with his extended family and childhood friends from Jackson, Alabama, his colleagues from Providence Hospital and numerous other facilities across the Southeast, countless friends, and everyone he crossed paths with throughout his life were cherished.

Terry is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jean Clolinger; great-grandparents, Clarence Medford and Annie Laurie Joiner; sister, Mona Patrick, and his in-laws, John and Jessie Whelan.

As the sun sets on this chapter of Terry’s life, we are reminded of the warmth of his smile, the kindness in his heart, and the strength of his spirit. The legacy of his love and laughter will live on in the family he leaves behind: Georgia, Laurie, Kyle, Corinne, Harper, Ward, Jessie, Colvin, Sara, Simon, Mia, and Hayes.

Bubba told them daily to “Say your prayers because I want to be with you in Heaven.”

Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on the patio at the church following the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to The Core Project (Harper and Ward’s school). 2448 Gordon Smith Dr., Mobile, AL 36617.
