In Memoriam: Richard D. Hill (1935-2024)

Richard D. Hill of Stuart, Florida passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024 at the age of 88.

Richard was born October 28, 1935 to Andrew and Eva (Truax) Hill. He was the ninth of 10 children. Richard graduated from Cadillac High School in 1953 and joined the United States Air Force. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he moved to Flint, Michigan, where he attended the Hurley School of Nursing. After graduation in 1966, he moved to Detroit, Michigan to continue his studies to become a nurse anesthetist at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital. Richard moved to Alpena, Michigan to practice for 14 years after obtaining his degree.

Following the death of his parents, Richard moved to Florida in 1984 – a place he fondly referred to as “the land of sunshine and palm trees.” He continued his career in anesthesia there until his retirement in 2000. Richard loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises with family and friends. He also had a love for entertaining and hosting dinner parties. In 2021, Richard moved back to Michigan to be closer to family. He will be remembered for his dedication to family and friends and his love of medicine.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers Clyde, Claude, Bob and Keith Hill, and his sisters, Helen Noaker, Mildred Hill, twins Maxine Snider and Arlene Codden, and Vera Maes.

Left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews as well as many special friends.

In accordance with Richard’s wishes, he will be cremated with his final resting place being Lake City Cemetery in Lake City, Michigan.
