Dorothy “Dottie” Shaw-Barbaccia of Delray Beach, Florida passed away on October 26, 2024, at the age of 85. Dorothy was born on September 11, 1939 in Boston and grew up in Everett, Massachusetts.
Dorothy graduated from the Malden Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her RN degree. She furthered her education at the New England School of Medicine, where she received her CRNA degree and certification. She worked as a CRNA at various hospitals, including the Baptist in Boston, Cleveland, North Broward and Bethesda Hospitals in Florida.
Dorothy was an avid golfer. If she wasn’t on the golf course, she could be found at the driving range practicing her hitting or on the green perfecting her putting and chipping. She was also actively involved in dancing, playing the organ, and skiing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Anthony Barbaccia of Florida; parents, Mary and Daniel Shaw of Everett, Massachusetts; sisters, Louise Bell of Danvers, Massachusetts, and Barbara Pouliot of Goffstown, New Hampshire. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Harvey, of Delray Beach, Florida, and brother, Fredrick Shaw, retired Fire Chief of North Reading, Massachusetts, and his wife, Carolyn. Dorothy also has many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
