Daniel J. Klapperich, 79, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on March 13, 2025.
Daniel was born in Osage, Iowa on March 10, 1946 to parents Arthur Klapperich and Rose Schrandt Klapperich of Meyer, Iowa. He graduated from St Mary’s Academy High School in New Haven, Iowa.
In 1968, Dan graduated from the Alexian Brothers School of Nursing in Chicago. That same year, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the US Army, serving 24 years as a Medical-Surgical Nurse, a Clinical Staff Nurse, and a Nurse Anesthetist.
Dan retired from the Army in 1992 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He then worked as chief nurse anesthetist at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee until 2012.
Daniel is survived by his wife Carmen Rushing Klapperich; daughter Theresa Klapperich, son Joseph Klapperich, daughter-in-law Rebecca Riddle Klapperich, granddaughters Abigail and Isabella Klapperich, brothers Gene Klapperich, David Klapperich, Tony Klapperich, and sisters Mary Leonard, Barbara Kime, Annette Hutchinson.
Dan will be interred at Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Disabled American Veterans and/or the Wounded Warrior Project.
