In Memoriam: Angela Maree Brady Brown, MS, CRNA (1976-2024)

Angela Maree Brady Brown, MS, CRNA, 48, of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away in the early morning of May 11, 2024 at Northwestern Medical Center, Chicago after being diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia on July 19, 2023.

Angie was born February 15, 1976 in Normal, Illinois to Gary and Terry Brady. She married the love of her life, Scott W. Brown, on October 21, 2006.

Angie earned her Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing from Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois, where she received the Alumni Award for Clinical Excellence. She then earned her Master of Science—Nurse Administered Anesthesia at Bradley University / Decatur Memorial Hospital. Angie spent the majority of her career at Unity Point Methodist Hospital, Peoria, Illinois, and with North American Partners in Anesthesia at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois. She was a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, an Illinois Registered Nurse / Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse, and trained in Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Additionally, she was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA).

Angie’s legacy is her true servant heart. She fiercely cared, not only for family and friends, but for anyone she met. Her door was always open, and she loved to host gatherings where no one ever left her home hungry. She was an amazing cook and passed her skills for cooking and baking onto her daughters.

With the true passion of a nurse, Angie was always a caregiver. She compassionately and empathetically served all, including her community. She was always participating in fundraisers for multiple causes and would help anyone.

Angie loved spending time with family and friends—she celebrated everything with the people she loved. Hosting pool parties was always a special time. Angie was always the life of the party, and her animated storytelling and big, beautiful blue eyes were sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. Angie and Scott were always grateful for all of the dear friends they made riding with Team Spin. She was also the Queen of the “Flying Squirrel.”

Angie is survived by husband, Scott; her daughters, Jocelyn and Alayna; her mother, Terry Brady, Normal, Illinois; her brothers Gary Jr. (Marla) Brady, Normal, Illinois, and Brian (Wendy) Brady, Troy, Illinois; sister Alicia (Blake Moore) Young, Hudson, Illinois; parents-in-law Paul and Sally Brown, Churdan, Iowa; brothers-in-law Jim (Donna) Brown, Churdan, Iowa; Bob (Kathy) Brown, Gunnersville, Alabama; sisters-in-law Jeri Walters, O’Fallon, Missouri, Heidi (David) Billmeier, Churdan, Iowa; 23 nieces and nephews, and eight great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sweet lab, Macy. Angie was preceded in death by her father, Gary Brady, both sets of grandparents, her beloved dog Maggie, and cat Spires.

Angie never quit—her tenacity for life was inspiring. Her body may have quit on her, but her passion for life lives on.
