NCSBN’s NCLEX Exams are internationally recognized as the preeminent nursing examinations.
“I am honored to be elected to this new role with NCSBN. I look forward to sharing my skills and experiences and continuing to build relationships with our nursing societies and the general communities nation- and worldwide,” says Castillo.
As an active advocate for the nursing profession from local to international involvements, Castillo was the recipient of the 2021 AANA Ira P. Gunn Outstanding Professional Advocacy Award, and in 2024 he was inducted as Fellow of the AANA. He is a former president of the Florida Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and served as chair of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and multiple other committees.
As past chair and current APRN member of the Florida Board of Nursing, he continues to contribute to healthcare by volunteering and presenting scholarly topics of interest to the nursing profession and the public.
NCSBN’s membership is composed of the nursing regulatory bodies (NRBs) in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and four U.S. territories. There are seven exam user members and 23 associate members that are either NRBs or empowered regulatory authorities from other countries or territories.
Castillo completed his BSN degree in 1994 and has been an APRN-CRNA in Naples, Fla., since 2007. In 2016, he earned his PhD in Instructional Design and Technology from Keiser University. He is a tenured remote associate professor at Texas Wesleyan University.
