American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) President Dru Riddle, PhD, DNP, CRNA, FAAN, has been appointed to the Texas Board of Nursing by Governor Greg Abbott.
The Board oversees the practice of professional nursing, examination of students, and standards of professional conduct for license holders. The Board also prescribes and publishes the minimum requirements and standards for course studies in various nursing degree programs.
Riddle recently took office as the 2023-2024 president of the nearly 61,000-member AANA, which is headquartered in Rosemont, Ill. He is an associate professor of Professional Practice and director of Clinical Education at Texas Christian University School of Nurse Anesthesia in Fort Worth. He also serves as co-chair of the Cochrane US Network and the Director of the Center for Translational Research: A JBI Center of Excellence.
In addition to his research and teaching roles, Riddle maintains an active clinical anesthesia practice through NorthStar Anesthesia. He was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2018.
His appointment to the Board of Nursing begins September 1, 2023, and expires January 31, 2029.
