The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) congratulates Kelli Camp, MSN, CRNA, ARNP, for her appointment as pro tem member of the Washington State Board of Nursing. Camp has been an AANA member since 2009.
The Washington Board of Nursing serves a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity of the nursing profession. Its primary mission is to protect public health and safety by developing standards for safe nursing care and promoting high levels of professional conduct. This is achieved through rigorous licensing, regulatory functions, and providing guidance to nurses throughout their careers.
The eleven-member Board also functions as an advocate for health equity, aiming to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their background, have access to quality nursing care. This commitment is reflected in the Board’s continuous efforts to address disparities within the healthcare system and enhance the nursing profession’s capacity to serve diverse communities effectively.
Camp will serve on the Advanced Practice Committee and the Disciplinary Committee. Her responsibilities include acting as a reviewing board member, serving on a case disposition panel and participating in disciplinary hearings.
Camp works as an independent CRNA in a small 25-bed critical access hospital in Othello, Washington. She provides anesthesia in the operating room for patients undergoing surgical procedures and epidural analgesia for laboring patients. She also provides sedation for necessary procedures in the Emergency Department and serves on the hospital IV and rapid response teams and as a critical care provider.
Camp was a critical care nurse for 12 years before training to be a CRNA. She began her doctoral studies in 2022 with a focus in nurse leadership. She also advocates at the state and national level to protect and promote the profession of nurse anesthesiology, including serving on the Washington Association of Nurse Anesthesiology Board of Directors.
