Members of the Peer Assistance Panel (PAP, formerly known as the Peer Assistance Advisors Committee) lead the AANA peer support network of State Peer Advisors (SPAs) nationwide. The network provides resources to nurse anesthetists and residents facing substance use disorder (SUD) issues. PAP also advocates for AANA members and the public on issues regarding practitioner well-being as it pertains to nurse anesthetists’ and residents’ risk for SUD.
The work is committed to educational endeavors and the promotion of prevention modalities; committee members offer informational support and resources for early recognition, intervention, treatment, long-term recovery, and appropriate re-entry.
