In October 2018, the AANA and Parkdale Solutions, LLC, entered a partnership to enhance the help offered to CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists and Residents with a problem use of alcohol and/or other drugs. The AANA Helpline (800-654-5167) is a service strengthened through the AANA and Parkdale Center for Professionals partnership that provides a 24-hour live, confidential response for CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists and RRNAs with support, information, and helpful resources for issues related to alcohol or drugs. Individuals can call for themselves, and/or callers can be colleagues, supervisors, loved ones, or friends. AANA membership is not a requirement to seeking help.
Yes, support is confidential. The AANA Helpline provides support, as needed, to both the caller and the person of concern. Confidentiality measures are in place to reduce concerns about getting “in trouble” (i.e., loss of position, licensure, career, livelihood; potential criminal charges), which can prevent someone from reaching out for SUD help for themselves or for others. AANA and Parkdale take great caution to maintain privacy. Calls are answered by Parkdale’s trained addiction professionals and contact information is only shared with the caller’s knowledge, if needed to enlist other Parkdale staff involved in the response. If a caller wishes, Parkdale maintains the anonymity of the individual calling on behalf of someone else. Calls do not result in a report to the State Board of Nursing or any other regulatory or licensing entity. If a call raises a life-threatening safety concern, Parkdale will notify the caller before involving external help, such as 911 or the national suicide hotline.
Parkdale provides de-identified aggregate reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to AANA to be reviewed for quality assurance purposes and trend analysis. These reports remain confidential within AANA and do not contain patient identifiers or identifiable health information.
AANA Helpline (800-654-5167) calls are answered by AANA’s partner treatment provider, Parkdale Center for Professionals. Each caller’s contact information is confidential and will only be shared as needed with Parkdale staff involved in responding to the need.
