2025 AANA Resident Mentoring Program
Do you have a standout nurse anesthesiology resident in your program who would be interested in participating in the Resident Mentoring Program during the 2025 Mid-Year Assembly (MYA) in Washington, DC? We are looking for the next generation of CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists to take part in the 2025 Resident Mentoring Program.
Deadline for nominations: March 8, 2025.
To help ensure a personal and meaningful experience for your student, only 50-60 RRNAs from around the country have the opportunity to participate in this popular program each year. The purpose of the program is to provide a positive, welcoming, motivational and educational experience to resident leaders, chosen by their program administrators, through mentoring by experienced CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists.
Objective of the Resident Mentoring Program
- Provide an opportunity for residents to network with other students, CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists, and association leaders at the Mid-Year Assembly.
- Inform students of the value of becoming an active AANA member and the importance of advocating for the nurse anesthesiology profession.
Criteria for Selection
- AANA’s public relations department, under the direction of the Communications Committee, will accept one resident per participating educational program. Participation is usually at capacity, and the spots go quickly!
- Each student accepted for the Mentoring Program must be nominated by their nurse anesthesia educational program administrator or assistant program director. Residents will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis and are eligible to participate in the mentoring program only one time.
Who Should be Selected to Participate?
Serious consideration should be given to nominating students who actively and consistently demonstrate leadership qualities and skills. We are looking for residents who take commitment seriously; are self-starters who show initiative; have a genuine interest in learning more about the AANA and their chosen profession by shadowing an experienced nurse anesthetist throughout the day’s activities; and show potential for being active in the association on a state or national level in the future.
It is an honor for residents to participate in this program! We ask you to make certain to impart this to the individual you are nominating. After we receive your nomination for the program, we will notify the resident with details outlining his or her responsibilities, and what is expected on mentoring day, and serve as an official confirmation of the student’s acceptance to participate and comply with the rules.
All program directors and assistant program directors will have received an email to nominate a resident for the mentorship program. If you have any questions, please contact Joanne Marquez, PR Coordinator.
