Postdoctoral Fellowship

The applicant must be an AANA member. AANA Foundation Board of Trustees are ineligible during their terms of office. The Post Doctoral Fellowship Program is open to nurse anesthetists who have completed a doctoral program (PhD) within the last five years.

The AANA Foundation Board of Trustees will review the applications, and select the recipient based on the degree to which the following criteria have been met:

1. Official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended.
2. Curriculum Vitae (with links to publications).
3. Three letters of recommendation, one of which is from a representative of the applicant’s dissertation committee. Letters should address the applicants’ scholarly abilities, area for growth, and future potential in academia and emailed directly from the recommender to foundation@aana.com.
4. Cover letter (2-5 pages single-spaced) that describes previous research experience, goals for postdoctoral training and career, focus/area of research and a faculty member who could potentially serve as mentor, new areas of growth desired during mentorship, and an idea for potential research project to carry out during the postdoctoral training (feasible to conduct in about two years). Applicant should highlight their skills and potential contributions to a research team.

Completed applications are reviewed and selected by the AANA Foundation Board of Trustees.

Complete and submit the application, cover letter, curriculum vitae, and transcripts in one email to foundation@aana.com with “Post Doctoral Fellowship Application” indicated in the subject line.

Letters of recommendation should be sent directly from the recommender to foundation@aana.com.
